Welcome to Big Oak Farms, specializing in meat goats and beef cattle, raised naturally on certified organic pasture.  Big Oak Farms is located on the Pomi Ranch, which is nestled among the rolling hills and black oaks of northern Marin County.

 

Our ranch started out as a dairy and was so for three generations.  The ranch

was being cared for by Patty and Ron Pomi, a third generation rancher, with the help of their family.  Agriculture has always been extremely important to the Pomi family, which led them to sign the very first contract with the Marin Agricultural Land Trust.  This contract guarantees that the ranch will remain agriculture forever.

 

Ron and Patty's children, Mark and Kim, left the ranch in the early 1990's to attend college and ultimately marry.  In November of 2003 both Mark and Kim, along with their families, moved back onto the ranch.  In 2004 we began a beef cattle business.  In April of 2007 all of our pastures were certified organic through the state of California and we joined Marin Organic.  In August of 2007 Big Oak Farms was established and we expanded ranch operations into the meat goat business.

 

Big Oak Farms is now a three family operation raising all natural, free range beef and meat goats on certified organic pasture.  We are very excited about preserving agriculture for many more generations to come.
